Yoga Class Descriptions
Gentle Yoga
Great for beginners, this class focuses on stretching and breathing properly while instructors provide guidance for moving in and out of poses at a slow pace, allowing participants to rest and relax. There are always at least two ways offered to do a pose, and modifications can be made for people with restricted movement whether from injury or lack of flexibility.
Level 1
This class is appropriate for participants who want a step up from Gentle Yoga. Basic poses are still taught step-by-step, but transition between poses is quicker, and poses may be held a little longer building stamina and concentration.
Level 2
Designed for participants with some previous yoga experience and more stamina with a focus on fitness and the physical nature of the poses. Movement through the poses is quicker than Level 1, and performed more deeply and held longer. The result is increased concentration and a more intense effect on muscles and heart rate.
Level 3
This class is for experienced yoga practitioners and includes advanced level poses with a faster flow.
Iyengar
Alignment and precise sequencing of poses define this style of Yoga. Props blankets, straps, and blocks are used to assist participants in achieving poses that require more flexibility or range of motion. Participants with more flexibility and experience also use props for deeper poses.
